Linh An Pagoda near Da Lat: where it is, entry, opening hours and the 71 m statue

Short answer

Linh An Pagoda (Chùa Linh Ẩn) is in Nam Ban, right next to Elephant Waterfall, about 25 km from Da Lat over the Tà Nung pass — around 45 minutes by road. It is not inside Da Lat city.

Entry is free; there is no ticket. The Da Lat tourism portal lists visiting hours as 7:00–19:00. The white Quan Am statue is 71 m tall, begun in 2017 and completed in 2019. Go early in the morning, before 8, for mist and quiet.

Many travellers know it as "Linh An Pagoda, Da Lat" because they come from Da Lat. The pagoda itself stands in the commune of Nam Ban, in Lâm Đồng province, on the edge of the gorge where the Cam Ly stream drops over Elephant Waterfall.

Where is Linh An Pagoda, and how do you get there?

From Da Lat, head toward Van Thanh flower village and cross the Tà Nung pass; Nam Ban is about 25 km on, roughly 45 minutes by car or motorbike. The pagoda and the waterfall sit together on the right-hand side as you come into the centre. In the misty season, drive the pass slowly and in daylight.

Older guides place it in "Nam Ha" or "Gia Lam". Since 1 July 2025 the area belongs to the commune of Nam Ban Lam Ha (Xã Nam Ban Lâm Hà), Lâm Đồng province.

Is there an entrance fee, and what are the opening hours?

No fee: the pagoda is open freely and sells no tickets. The Da Lat tourism information portal gives visiting hours as 7:00–19:00. In practice people come to pray from early morning; if you plan to go very early or late, check locally first. As at any working temple, dress modestly and keep your voice down in the halls.

How tall is the statue, and how old is the pagoda?

The white statue of Quan Am (Guanyin) is 71 m tall. Work began in 2017 and it was inaugurated in 2019; at completion it was recorded as the tallest Quan Am statue in Vietnam. The pagoda itself began in 1993 as a small prayer hall on about 4 hectares of forest land, built with help from local people, and grew from there.

Linh An Pagoda, Linh Ẩn Tự and Thiền viện Linh Ẩn are the same place. Some travel articles call it "the second Truc Lam"; that is a comparison, not its name.

Can you walk down to Elephant Waterfall from the pagoda?

The waterfall's visitor site has been closed since 2021 and the main gate stays locked. People still go down by other paths — past the cafés above, beside the pagoda, or along trails — but none of them is managed or supervised. The rock is wet, mossy and steep. Wear shoes with grip and go slowly, or simply look from above. More in our guide to Elephant Waterfall in Nam Ban.

When is the best time to visit?

Early morning, before about 8 — cooler, quieter, often with mist over the valley. Weekdays are calmer than full-moon days and Buddhist festivals. The dry season makes the roads easier; the rainy season, roughly April or May to November, is greener but the pass needs care.
